If you’ve been following Spoilt Pup NZ for a while, you may have noticed things have been a little quiet around here.
Okay… very quiet. 😅
There haven’t been regular posts, product updates or much happening on our social pages for some time.
But behind the scenes, we haven’t disappeared.
In fact, we’ve been busy working on what comes next for Spoilt Pup NZ.
Running our businesses, attending dog shows and events, supporting clubs and the wider dog community, developing new products and, of course, spending plenty of time with the dogs who started all of this in the first place.
Sometimes, when you’re a small business, social media is the first thing that gets pushed down the list.
But it’s time to change that.
Spoilt Pup NZ Has Always Been About Staffords
Spoilt Pup NZ was created with Staffordshire Bull Terriers and similar-sized dogs in mind.
Dogs that aren’t just pets. They’re part of the family.
They sleep on the couch, steal the blankets, come along for the adventures and somehow end up owning more gear than the humans in the house.
As Stafford owners, breeders and exhibitors ourselves, we want Spoilt Pup NZ to continue growing into a business that provides products designed around the dogs and community we know and love.
And that has meant investing in what comes next.
Investing in Stafford-Specific Products
One of our biggest recent investments has been bringing 3D printing in-house.
Why?
Because we want the ability to design, test and create products specifically for Stafford owners, breeders, exhibitors and clubs.
There are plenty of generic dog products available. But when you live and breathe Staffords, you quickly realise there are products our community wants that simply aren’t easy to find.
Having our own 3D printer gives us the opportunity to develop products ourselves, right here in New Zealand.
Some of the products and ideas we’re working on include:
• Stafford stacking blocks for training and preparing dogs for the show ring.
• Stafford knot products and accessories.
• Show-day accessories for exhibitors and handlers.
• Ribbon and rosette display solutions.
• Kennel signs, name plates and personalised displays.
• Collar, lead and show-gear organisers.
• Customised club and event products, awards, signage and keepsakes.
And this is only the beginning.
There will be prototypes, testing, failed prints, changes and plenty of learning along the way — and we plan on taking you behind the scenes for all of it.
Bringing More of Our Products Closer to Home 🇳🇿
3D printing isn’t the only area we’ve been investing in.
You may have seen our newest pup rocking around in a prototype suede-lined leather martingale collar and matching lead set.
That prototype is something we’re incredibly excited about because it’s made right here in New Zealand.
We’ve seen a strong push towards sourcing collars, leads and other dog gear from international suppliers, including within parts of the dog club and show community.
At Spoilt Pup NZ, we want to take a different direction.
Where possible, we want to invest in New Zealand-made products, local makers and small businesses.
Producing closer to home allows us to be more involved in the development and testing of our products, reduce international freight, make improvements based on feedback from real Stafford owners and exhibitors, and ultimately work towards providing affordable gear without compromising on quality.
Supporting local shouldn’t mean settling for less.
Our goal is to offer products that meet — and where possible exceed — the quality of comparable imported gear while remaining accessible and affordable for everyday dog owners.
The suede-lined leather martingale set currently being tested by our newest pup is just the beginning.
We Want to Hear From the Stafford Community
One of the biggest advantages of creating more products ourselves and working with local makers is the ability to listen.
If there’s something you’ve always wished existed for your Stafford, your kennel, your show setup or your club, we want to hear about it.
Some ideas will become products.
Some will become prototypes.
Some may result in spectacular 3D printing failures. 😂
But that’s part of building something new.
So, What Happens Next?
You’re going to start seeing a lot more from Spoilt Pup NZ.
New products.
Behind-the-scenes development.
3D printing projects.
New Zealand-made gear.
Staffords.
Show days.
Customer dogs.
And the everyday chaos that comes with running a small business built around dogs.
Spoilt Pup NZ hasn’t disappeared.
We’ve been learning, investing, creating and working out exactly where we want to take the business next.
And now we’re ready to bring you along for the ride. 🐾
